Mixtape Hot Sauce – Texas Pebre
from Chef Key’s Empanada Empire

Ingredients:
Red Wine Vinegar, Water, Serrano Peppers, Roma Tomatoes, Scallion, Cilantro, Lemon Juice, Sea Salt, Garlic Powder, Cayenne Pepper, Brown Sugar, Cumin, Smoked Paprika, Black Pepper, Xanthan Gum

Before I even came up with the idea of doing a licensed series for artists, I had hit up my friend Julio aka Kilo aka Kilo Art-of-Fact, because he was out there killing it in the food game with his Empanada Empire. I called up Key to see if he would be interested in buying Poor Vida Hot Sauces wholesale to sell alongside his own culinary creations, and he was interested, but immediately said that a Chef Key branded sauce would probably do better. In fact, that might have even been what started the whole idea of doing licensed products – I’m not even sure anymore, this whole project has been a whirlwind. Just think, as of right now at the launch of this series, it’s only been 3 months since the very first sauce was posted on facebook with no label and no plans for a company. Anyway, once we started going down the road of making a custom product for Chef Key, Pebre was the first thing mentioned. I did a little research on it, and found it was traditionally a pico type product, and wasn’t typically known for being hot. Well, let’s take that idea, and give it the Texas treatment… Texas Pebre.
