“We came to start making simple syrups in a rather round-a-bout way. We were a couple of months into our first year of selling at DFW area farmers markets, and we had yet to expand to very many cities. We quickly realized that the people who were making a killing at the farmers market were the people who were selling products that could be consumed on site, or at the very least, consumed before the next market rolled around. We needed something that people could buy every week, since the average shopper wasn’t blowing through a bottle or two of hot sauce every week. Aidan had been pushing to create something with Prickly Pear, so we quickly whipped up a Prickly Pear Jalapeno Lemonade. We found the easiest way to do that was to make an infused simple syrup first, so we could make a fresh batch of lemonade quickly on market days. After that, it was a no brainer to bottle the syrup as a whole new Poor Vida product. Keep an eye out for more flavors coming soon!”
