After I made the blog post about NOT making custom hot sauces for local artists as a joke, it got me thinking about how great an idea that really could be. I’ve know Justin for more than 15 years, and even had him do a concert at my house once, and I saw him just killin’ it at the merch table. The rise of streaming platforms over the last decade has really forced artists to basically give away their music, and the way to make money as a musician these days is by expanding your merch game. I reached out to GOAT to run the idea by him, and he was on board immediately. We talked about branding first, with the goal to make an orange sauce to match his own branding, before we even nailed down the flavor. We landed on Lemon Pepper initially, and then Lemon Pepper Garlic, and turned to habaneros for the heat and the color, though we didnt go too heavy on the heat with this one.

The first wave of flavors is the citrus with the Anaheim peppers in the background. The habanero hits the back of the tongue and is not overwhelming. The final notes are the black pepper, garlic and turmeric.
This sauce will be one of my daily table sauces. I’ll be trying this on wings for sure. I think it would be a great sauce for anyone looking to level up from Tabasco and other cayenne sauces.
