Description
Poor Vida Hot Sauce – Pomegranate Ghost
Ingredients:
White Wine Vinegar, Guajillo Peppers, Water, Ghost Peppers, Pomegranate, Olive Oil, Lime Juice, Garlic, Sea Salt, Cherrywood Smoked Sea Salt, Seasoned Pepper (black pepper, paprika, red bell pepper, sugar), Brown Sugar, Cayenne Pepper, Xanthan Gum
So Cherry Limeade had been created, but it was just for friends and family, and there were no labels. The feedback from a picture of a handful of bottles on Facebook (and a small reddit post, you can find it on r/salsasnobs) was huge, and the idea was born to maybe, possibly do something about it. So back to the store (stores at this point, peppers aren’t a big section at most grocery stores near me), shopping for peppers and ingredients. I basically bought a couple pounds of every pepper, and a bunch of most of the fruits that I could find, and bought every bottle of white wine vinegar on the shelves. My initial plan was to come up with at least one more as good as the Cherry Limeade. I remembered back to my attempt using my paltry handful of tobasco peppers, and I knew this next hot sauce needed to be red. So I sorted out all the red ingredients I had, and narrowed it down to Ghost Peppers, Red Jalapenos, and Pomegranate as the main sweetener. 4 or 5 variations later, and the second Poor Vida Hot Sauce was ready to rock – Pomegranate Ghost.

A Chat GPT Short Story
In the small village of Carrollton, Selena grew ghost peppers, and one day discovered a pomegranate tree with unusual fruit growing in her garden. After eating one, she was transported to a haunted forest where ghostly figures and witches brewed a potion using ghost peppers and pomegranates. She managed to escape but warned the villagers of the cursed fruit. The legend says the ghost pepper and pomegranate potion created in the haunted forest has powerful, mystical properties and people will do anything to get their hands on it.

CRoy came through with a bottle and I tried to play it cool but the sweat was beading on my forehead. I’m really impressed with the flavor, and the heat is no joke.

The ghost pepper flavor in this is intense with a bit of an earthy but slightly fruity bit of pomegranate. It was great on some grilled shrimp.
I expected slightly more heat from a ghost pepper sauce but that just means I could use more of it. The heat does last and build though.

great flavor but be careful with this one cause it slaps and will make you reach for the ice cream

The cherry limeade barely edges this out as a favorite, but they are super close. I love the heat in this one – it’s not too up front, like you’d expect with the “ghost” in the name, but it sneaks up on you and is damn delicious. Pairing the flavors of the ghost and red jalapeno with a sour sweet element like pomegranate is genius. Great on anything beef or pork but I am itching to try this on fish and shrimp as well.

Pomegranate flavor hits up front, followed by the lime and garlic, and the heat follows it up. Right up my alley, I’m very big on sweet heat sauces, 9 out of 10!

This is a flavorful and hot sauce. I’ve tried this sauce as a salad dressing, on fish, on chicken, and on beef. It enhanced every meal I tried it with, but shined the brightest on fish and beef. The heat is genuine and creeps in. You taste the fruit up front and the heat immediately begins to crescendo. If you like your food hot and want a unique flavor, give this one a shot.
